When it was learned that a 6.5 acre parcel of land abutting TW and North Indiana Avenue was being auctioned by Sarasota County there was great interest by many TW owners. The TW board said it was not able to place a bid in the time available because it would require prior approval from the association members. The bidding period would end before the needed approvals could be obtained.
TW-FLAG is a corporation created by Ken Kremer and was composed of forty-one TWOA unit owners that were hastily gathered to take advantage of this unique opportunity to preserve and protect the nature of the Tangerine Woods community. These 11% of all TW owners offered a chunk of their savings to forward this experiment. Any FLAG shareholder must be a TW owner.
It was only through the pro-active efforts of these few TW Owners that we were able to take control of one of the very last remaining parcels of undeveloped land abutting Tangerine Woods. Thus, TW-FLAG was created to save this land for the benefit and enjoyment of all the TW owners. FLAG's intention was to buy this land when the TWOA was not able, then when time allows for all TW owners to offer their approvals, sell it to the TWOA and have it become part of our common elements. Our goal was then to provide all available facts to TW owners and hope that enough owners would provide their approval.
UPDATED December 1, 2024: At that time, there were 33 shareholders. Six (8) Flag shares had been redeemed since 6/20/2022.
